EVENTS SUPPORT THE M.D.I.R.F. Stuart Buntine who organises a series of Events throughout the East Midlands has chosen MDIRF as one of the Charities they will support The first is Oasby, near Grantham on 12th and 13th March, which has now become a regular early season run, with wonderful ground should it be a little wet! Next comes Belton, a whole new venture on 2nd and 3rd April. This prestigious event will have a face lift this year, with the Cross Country Course taking on a whole new look and the Main Arena being relocated and revamped. The next Event on the calendar will be a totally new one at Prestwold Hall, near Loughborough on May 30th and 31st This is a lovely venue, the home of Edward and Juliet Pack Dury Lowe and their family. They are very enthusiastic about the Event being held and look forward to welcoming everyone. Then comes the new venue for the old Lambley House Horse Trials 23rd and 24th July. These Trials have moved to Shelford Manor a few miles down the road. This venue has the advantage of being right on the banks of the River Trent, therefore has light, sandy soil and the opportunity to have the dressage and show jumping arenas irrigated! The final event is back to Oasby on 1st and 2nd October Stuart and his team feel that the MDIRF is a very appropriate Charity for them to support as it is very relevant to all their competitors who they hope will never need to take advantage of all the MDIRF has to offer. They are all looking forward to working with the MDIRF and raising a substantial amount to add to the Funds. If anyone has any queries or wishes to know more about any of the above Events please feel free to call Stuart on 07949 20042 (home) 07717 412167 (mobile)

MDIRF SPONSORED RIDE - NEW PARK FARM, BROCKENHURST, 30TH SEPTEMBER We were once again lucky with the weather and spirits were high as the first trailers and lorries started to turn up. With a flurry of late entries, 217 riders completed the ride this year. This included fun riders, competition riders and a sprinkling of endurance riders. The new presentation shields seemed to go down well and highlighted the age spans of Ella Bega (5 yrs) and Pip King (76) years who took the youngest and veteran trophies respectively. After an initial hiccup with a group of riders missing some markers in the forest, the general feedback was tremendous with lots of thanks and praise for the people who set the ride and organised the day. So once again, special thanks to all helpers on the day without whom it would not be possible. And also a huge thank you to all riders and supporters of the event. A grand total of £1888 was raised, making a final figure of £3,205 for both rides in 2004 - well worth the effort! Mark your diaries for next years rides: Sunday 29th May 2005 (Tenantry) and Sunday 25th September 2005 (New Park Farm). For more information contact: C Hughes, 23 Old Priory Close, Hamble, SOUTHAMPTON SO31 4QP - Tel 02380 456821.
MDIRF RECRUITS CANINE HELPER The MDIRF have recruited Sarah Bullen's dog Plod to work for the charity. In order to raise funds, spectators are invited to make a £1 donation and guess Plod's breed - guess correctly and and you win a huge bottle of Champagne kindly donated by Tattinger. So far Plod has raised over £200, but is looking to raise more at the remaining events this season. HELP RECYCLE OFFICE EQUIPMENT AND RAISE MONEY FOR MDIRF Working in conjunction with Office Green, one of the UK’s largest specialist recycler of office waste, the MDIRF has instigated a unique free of charge cartridge recycling scheme that can help raise significant funds for the charity. WHY? Every year tens of millions of empty printer inkjet and toner cartridges get thrown away in the UK. Most end up in landfill waste sites, which have a detrimental effect on the environment. A vast majority of office equipment can be recycled and has a financial value that can not only benefit the MDIRF, but also help to protect the environment. The reason why these products are worth so much is simple; they can be recycled to either build new products or broken down to their component levels as scrap waste. HOW CAN I HELP? All you have to do is contact MDIRF who will provide you with a box to store all your old cartridges and mobile phones. Arrangements will be made to collect the products direct and free of charge to Office Green. When Office Green receives the product, a payment will be given to MDIRF so please pick up the phone and order your box now to help raise funds. To receive your box call Rosemary Lang at MDIRF on 01483 278494 or e-mail rosemary@lang999.fsnet.co.uk
